Alongside Planet A's commercial engineering sits Planet A Solutions CIC — a registered Community Interest Company that exists for one reason: to make sure the transition to net zero creates skills, knowledge and opportunity for people and communities, not just for those who can already afford it.
Our commercial business — energy and building-physics engineering, retrofit, renewables, modelling and R&D for clients across the UK.
Commercial services →Our social enterprise — a not-for-profit Community Interest Company focused on education, skills, training and an inclusive transition to net zero.
Explore our social impact →Plenty of companies talk about social value. We chose a structure where it isn't optional. Planet A Solutions CIC is a registered Community Interest Company, limited by guarantee — regulated to deliver genuine community benefit.
Amanda and Dave run the CIC as directors, but nobody owns it and nobody profits from it. Every surplus is reinvested in its purpose: education, skills and a fair transition to net zero.
The transition to net zero needs a workforce that doesn't yet exist at the scale required. We deliver training programmes, practical skills development and qualifications that open real routes into low-carbon work — including accredited programmes with the University of Exeter.
Understanding is the first barrier to an inclusive transition. We work with education providers, young people and communities to build genuine understanding of sustainability, energy and net-zero technologies — taught by engineers who build these systems for a living.
Too much of the transition only reaches businesses and households that can afford new technology. We work to make net zero genuinely accessible — helping communities understand their options, shape viable plans and benefit from the change, whatever their starting point.
Real-world initiatives delivered through the CIC — with the outcomes measured and published, the same way we'd evidence any engineering project. As programmes complete, this is where their case studies, statistics and partnerships will live.
If you're an education provider, funder, council or community group — or you simply want the transition to reach further — we'd like to hear from you.
